Whenever someone filed a complaint against you, your license could be put in danger if not defended by a nurse attorney. An LVN from, Texas is just one of the many examples of nurses who have been disciplined by the Texas Board of Nursing (BON).
At the time of the initial incident, an LVN was employed as a Licensed Vocational Nurse at a hospital facility in Plano, Texas, and had been in that position for two (2) years and six (6) months.
On or about June 14, 20 1 9, while employed as a Licensed Vocational Nurse, and in the role of charge nurse, the LVN failed to document and/or completely and accurately document the administration of Hydrocodone in that she signed out one (1) tab of Hydrocodone 5/325mg for a patient, but actually removed two (2) tabs of Hydrocodone at that time and administered both tabs to the patient. The LVN only documented one (1) tab as being administered. The LVN’s conduct was likely to injure the patient, in that subsequent caregivers would rely on her documentation to further medicate the patient, which could result in an overdose. Additionally, the LVN’s conduct placed the hospital in violation of Chapter 481 (Controlled Substances Act) of the Texas Health and Safety Code.

In response to the incidents, the LVN states she was very stressed during this time due to professional and personal reasons. The LVN states she was moved multiple times to different halls in the middle of her shifts and was told to chart things that did not happen on her shift because the other nurse was staying too long after her shift. The LVN admits to having poor nursing judgment due to the stress. Respondent states she would never do harm to her residents. The LVN states her drug screen was negative and no medications were found on her person.
During the hearing of the case, the RN nurse was not able to properly defend herself. She hired a nurse attorney, but it was already too late. The evidence of the complainant proved that she was guilty of the charges against her. This eventually resulted in the revocation of her professional nursing license in the state of Texas. The Board ordered the revocation of the license with finality. As such, the RN nurse is no longer allowed to use her nursing license.
