Accusations are stressful issues for an RN or LVN, except when a Dallas RN defense lawyer assists you against the case. The Texas Board of Nurses is responsible for all hearings against RNs and LVNs undergoing a case that may revoke suspend or only discipline their license. Take note that a Dallas Rn defense lawyer can also defend a nurse’s license against accusations.

At the time of the initial incident, the LVN was employed in a hospital in Dallas, Texas, and had been in that position for two (2) years and six (6) months.

On or about August 2, 2018, the LVN allegedly inappropriately administered Benadryl to a patient for sleep. However, the physician’s order specifically stated not to administer Benadryl as a sleep aide. Her conduct was likely to injure the patient in that administration of Benadryl without a physician order placed the patient at risk for adverse side effects such as delirium, increased risk of falls and temporary confusion.

Subsequently, the LVN inappropriately administered Benadryl to two patients without a physician’s order. Additionally, the LVN admitted to inappropriately administering Benadryl to the patient  to decrease falls. Her conduct was likely to injure the patient in that the administration of Benadryl without a physician order placed the patient at risk for adverse side effects such as delirium, increased risk of falls and temporary confusion.

In response to the incidents, the LVN states the resident had been previously receiving sleep aides as part of his/her medication regimen and admits that prior to administering the Benadryl she failed to check the medication administration record (MAR). In addition, the LVN states she does not recall administering Benadryl to the patient  without an order. The LVN also admits she administered Benadryl to the resident because he/she was continuously having falls and in her misguided attempt to prevent the patient from injury, she administered the medication without a physician order.

The Texas Board of Nursing then subjected the LVN and her license into disciplinary action. The accusation would have been defended by an experienced and skilled Dallas RN defense lawyer, had the LVN hired one. Hiring a Dallas RN defense lawyer  is applicable for any kind of accusation laid against an RN or LVN.
