Whenever someone filed a complaint against you, your license could be put in danger if not defended by a Frisco nurse attorney. An RN from Conroe, Texas is just one of the many examples of nurses who have been disciplined by the Texas Board of Nursing.

On or about November 9, 2018, while working as a Registered Nurse in a medical facility in Conroe, the RN lacked the fitness to practice nursing in that she was observed to be sleeping while on duty. Her conduct was likely to injure the patient in that it adversely affected her ability to recognize subtle signs, symptoms or changes in the patient’s condition, and could have affected her ability to make rational, accurate, and appropriate assessments, judgments, and decisions regarding patient care, thereby placing the patient in potential danger.

In addition, the RN failed to provide a safe environment for the patient in that she fell asleep with the patient in her arms. Her conduct was likely to injure the patient in that she created an unsafe environment and may have unnecessarily exposed the patient to emotional, physical, and/or psychological harm.

During the hearing, the RN states it was not her intention to fall asleep at work. She states she does not remember falling asleep but only that she felt very tired and for some reason, she had experienced sudden fatigue close to the end of her shift. She states this was her third night shift in a row and she is not used to working nights. The RN states the hospital required continuous monitoring and was fussy so she carried him a lot this shift. She states the patient was feeling anxious so she sat in the rocking chair with him. She states she felt so tired around 645am, close to the end of her shift and was not aware of how it happened in such a short period of time.
