Any type of accusations or criminal case can be defended, as long as there is a skilled nurse attorney ready to assist you during the hearing before the Board of Nursing. The Texas Board of Nursing has full jurisdiction regarding any cases that may affect an RN or LVN’s license from suspension, disciplinary action or revocation.

On or about February 23, 2017, through March 5, 2017, an RN from Dallas allegedly failed to ensure that Macrodantin, an antibiotic medication was administered, as ordered, for a patient for a urinary tract infection. The first dose was administered four (4) days after the prescription was issued. Additionally, two (2) doses of Macrodantin were to be given at home over the weekend, but she failed to pick up the medication from the school, resulting in the patient not receiving the entire dose of Macrodantin.

The RN conduct was likely to injure the patient in that failure to administer medication as ordered by the physician could have resulted in the non-efficacious treatment of the patient’s urinary tract infection.

Because of this, the RN was summoned by the Texas Board of Nursing to defend her side of the story. During the defense, the RN states she ensured the patient received Macrodantin and gave the initial dose while educating the staff about the medication and its side effects.

However, without valid reason and defense to properly explain the RN’s side, the RN was disciplined and suspended by the Texas Board of Nursing.

Because of this incident, the Texas Board of Nursing then subjected the RN’s license into disciplinary action.

The accusation would have been defended by an experienced and skilled nurse attorney, had the RN hired one. Hiring a nurse attorney for defense is applicable for any kind of accusation laid against an RN or LVN.
