This is the story of an LVN who has been disciplined when she was accused of using drugs while at work.

On or about June 10, 2009, while employed as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in a medical facility in Plano, the LVN engaged in the intemperate use of Klonopin in that she admitted to taking a l2 tablet of Klonopin while at work. Possession of Klonopin without a valid prescription is prohibited by Chapter 481 of the Texas Health & Safety Code (Controlled Substances Act).

The use of Klonopin by a Licensed Vocational Nurse, while subject to call or duty, could impair the nurse’s ability to recognize subtle signs, symptoms or changes in the patient’s condition, and could impair the nurse’s ability to make rational, accurate, and appropriate assessments, judgments, and decisions regarding patient care, thereby placing the patient in potential danger.

During the hearing, the LVN states that another nurse took her into the nursing office and closed the door. The other nurse asked her what happened and stated that she had a prescription for Klonopin to take when she has anxiety attacks. The other nurse stated that she would like to give it to her to help her relax and get through the day.

The LVN stated that she can not take those types of medications. The other nurse stated that she could take 12 tablets, that she could use something to help her. She states that she thought about it and that it was just a tablet and reasoned that it should be OK.

However, without the proper help from a good defense criminal nurse attorney, the LVN lost the case and she was disciplined and suspended.

The Texas Board of Nursing then subjected the LVN and her license into disciplinary action. The accusation would have been defended by an experienced and skilled nurse attorney, had the LVN hired one. Hiring a Plano nurse attorney for defense is applicable for any kind of accusation laid against an RN or LVN.
